I love trying out new dairy free products when I run across them in the supermarket. Recently I was cruising through the DF yogurt section of my favorite health food store Healthy Living in Saratoga Springs, NY, and I came across these Chia Viva! chia seed puddings. A commercial chia pudding brand?! How smart! I’ve made chia puddings loads of times (check out my 3 Ingredient Coconut Chia Seed Pudding recipe if you’ve missed it…) and sometimes I just don’t have 4 hours to wait for the chia seeds to bloom. So a chia pudding that I can grab and go from the grocery store sounded like just the thing I needed to review on the blog.
These Chia Viva! chia puddings are no joke. They come in a variety of flavors and they’re healthy, too! They are gluten free and dairy free, made with coconut milk, no artificial ingredients, have 3 grams of protein, and 2400 mg of Omega-3’s. The flavors I tried out were the Madagascar Vanilla Bean, Toasted Coconut, and Sea Salt Chocolate.
So how did these chia puddings stack up? Read on to find out my official F*ck Dairy Review…
Madagascar Vanilla Bean
I love a strong, authentic vanilla flavor and goddammnit this chia pudding has it! It’s vanilla for true vanilla lovers–none of that artificial vanilla sh*t here. Super rich and creamy, you could easily mistake it for ice cream. I found the texture of this one a tad thinner than the other two, but by no means was that a deal breaker. This would be perfect with fresh fruit or on its own.
A tropical dose of coconut that’s not for the faint of heart. If you don’t like coconut, you will not like this flavor. If you do, then you’re in luck. It’s a pow pow! of coconut flavor that will satisfy those coconut cravings. And because it’s made with coconut milk, you’re getting 2X the coconut!
Sea Salt Chocolate
The thickest of the bunch, this super chocolatey chia pudding was NO JOKE like eating chocolate frosting straight from the container–but it’s good for you! It was ah-mazing. It’s rich, creamy, and fulfills all your chocaholic cravings. You know how salted caramel is like the sh*t now? Well I bet salted chocolate is the next best salted thing, because the sea salt brought a perfect little zing to the chocolatey flavor.
All in all, Chia Viva! products are pretty good! They make delicious chia seed puddings that are accessible, easy to eat on the go, and come in a variety of flavors. I’m giving them 5 out of 5 F*cks! And if you want a little foodie advice, try mixing the Madagascar Vanilla Bean and Sea Salt Chocolate together. A little chocolate, a little vanilla–it’s better than soft serve ice cream.
